Knitting: Cable: Twisted Taffy

(worked over 8 sts)

Pattern:

Rows 1, 3 and 5 Knit.
Row 2 and all WS rows Purl.
Row 7 8-st Sl 4 sts to cn and hold to back, k4, k4 from cn. (worked over 8 sts)
Row 8 Rep row 2.
Rep rows 1–8.

Note: this is a generic pattern for creating this cable. For a single cable it would be 8 stitches. In the example shown, there is one repeat of the stitch with 12 stitches on either side, so you'd need to cast on 32 (12 + 8 + 12) stitches, then knit 12, do the pattern and knit to end of row to achieve a result exactly like the one shown.
