Pattern:

Row 1 (RS) Knit. 
Row 2 and all WS rows Purl. 
Row 3 Sl 8 sts to cn and hold to front, k8, k8 from cn. 
Rows 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 Knit. 
Row 16 Rep row 2. 
Rep rows 1–16

Note: this is a generic pattern for creating this cable. For a single cable it would be 16 stitches. In the example shown, there is one repeat of the stitch with 12 stitches are on either side, so you'd need to cast on 40 (12 + 16 + 12) stitches and work 12 stitches in knit before starting the pattern.
