Stitchfinder: Crochet Block: Concentric Circles

At first sight this block may look too flimsy to make a good afghan square but it becomes more stable when it is surrounded by other blocks and can be used to improve the overall drape of an otherwise heavy throw.

Foundation chain: Using yarn A, make a slip knot.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc 11 times into the slip knot, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3 --12 dc.Turn.

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1dc into the base chain, 2dc into each st, join in yarn B, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3 -- 24 dc.Turn.

Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1dc into the base chain, *1dc into the next sts, 2dc into the next st, rep from * 10 more times, 1dc into the last st, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3—36 dc. Turn.

Rnd 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1dc into the base chain, *1dc into each of the next 2 sts, 2dc in the next st, rep from * 10 more times, 1dc into the next 2 sts, join in yarn A, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3 -- 48 dc.Turn.

Rnd 5: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1dc into each of the next 2 sts *2dc in the next st, 1dc into each of the next 3 sts, rep from * 10 more times, 2dc into the next st, join in yarn B, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3—60 dc. Turn.

Rnd 6: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), *1dc into the next 3 sts, ch 24, sk the next 11 sts, 1dc into the next st, rep from * twice more, 1dc into the next 3 sts, ch 24, join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3.Turn.

Rnd 7: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), *1dc into the next 12 ch sts, ch 2, 1dc into the next 12 ch sts and 1dc into the next 4 sts, rep from * twice more, 1dc into the next 12 ch sts, ch 2, 1dc into the next 12 ch sts, 1dc into the next 3 sts join with a sl st in top of beg-ch-3. Turn.

Rnd 8: Ch 2 (counts as 1 sc), 1sc into the next 15 sts, [1sc, ch 2, 1sc] into the corner sp, *1sc into the next 28 sts, [1sc ch 2, 1sc] in the corner sp, rep from * twice more, 1sc into the next 12 sts.

Fasten off yarn.
