Beautifully Confusex

Well, I have started this pattern over six times and just cannot get going on it. The pattern is very beautiful as it is worked up, but I am so confused and ready to abandon it! I've rewritten the pattern, had someone read the stitches to me as I knitted them, to no avail! ☹️ Before I give up entirely, are there any corrections?
