Level 2 Knit Pullover

Lion Brand Lion's Pride Woolspun

GAUGE:

13 sts + 18 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

1. Pullover is worked in 4 pieces: Back, Front and 2 Sleeves.
2. A circular needle is used to accommodate the number of stitches. Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle as if working on straight needles.

STEP 1
BACK

Cast on 70 (82, 94) sts.
Row 1 (RS): P2, *k2, p2; rep from * across.
Row 2: K2, *p2, k2; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures about 2 in. (5 cm) from beg.
Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 19 (20, 21) in. (48.5 (51, 53.5) cm) from beg, end with a RS row as the last row you work.
Note: End with a RS row means that the last row you work should be a RS row, and the next row that you are ready to work will be a WS row.
Last Row (WS): Bind off first 21 (25, 29) sts for left shoulder, purl until there are 28 (32, 36) sts on the right hand needle and slip these sts onto a holder for back neck, bind off rem sts for right shoulder.

STEP 2
FRONT

Cast on 70 (82, 94) sts.
Row 1 (RS): (P2, k2) 5 (6, 7) times, p1, place marker (pm), k28 (32, 36), pm, p1, (k2, p2) 5 (6, 7) times.
Row 2: (K2, p2) 5 (6, 7) times, k1, slip marker (sm), k to next marker, sm, k1, (p2, k2) 5 (6, 7) times.
Row 3: (P2, k2) 5 (6, 7) times, p1, sm, k to next marker, sm, p1, (k2, p2) 5 (6, 7) times.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures about 2 in. (5 cm) from beg, end with a WS row as the last row you work.
Next Row (RS): K to first marker, sm, k to next marker, sm, k to end of row.
Next Row: P to first marker, sm, k to next marker, sm, p to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows until piece measures about 19 (20, 21) in. (48.5 (51, 53.5) cm) from beg, end with a RS row as the last row you work.
Last Row (WS): Bind off first 21 (25, 29) sts for right shoulder, knit until there are 28 (32, 36) sts on needle and place these sts on a holder for front neck, bind off the rem sts for left shoulder.

STEP 3
SLEEVES (make 2)

Cast on 58 (62, 66) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows until piece measures about 14 in. (35.5 cm) from beg.
Bind off.

STEP 4
Neckband

Sew right shoulder.
Slip the 28 (32, 36) back neck sts and 28 (32, 36) front neck sts from the holders back onto the circular needle so that you are ready to work a RS row – 56 (64, 72) sts.
Knit 16 rows.
Bind off.
Sew left shoulder, including neckband.

STEP 5
Sew in Sleeves.

STEP 6
Sew side and Sleeve seams.
