Country Blocks Afghan

Lion Brand« Heartland

GAUGE:

12 half double crochet + 12 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

1. Five Panels are worked separately, then sewed together to make Afghan.
2. The color is changed every 30 rows on each Panel.
3. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete the stitch. Fasten off old color.

PANEL I
With A, chain 28.
Row 1: Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across - 26 stitches.
Rows 2-30: Chain 2 (does not count as a stitch), turn, half double crochet in each stitch across. Change to B in last stitch of Row 30.
Rows 31-60: With B, repeat Row 2. Change to C in last stitch of Row 60.
Rows 61-90: With C, repeat Row 2. Change to D in last stitch of Row 90.
Rows 91-120: With D, repeat Row 2. Change to E in last stitch of Row 120.
Rows 121-150: With E, repeat Row 2. Change to F in last stitch of Row 150.
Rows 151-180: With F, repeat Row 2.
Fasten off.

PANEL II
Make same as Panel I, working 30 rows of each color in the following order: B, C, D, E, F, A.

PANEL III
Make same as Panel I, working 30 rows of each color in the following order: C, D, E, F, A, B.

PANEL IV
Make same as Panel I, working 30 rows of each color in the following order: D, E, F, A, B, C.

PANEL V
Make same as Panel I, working 30 rows of each color in the following order: E, F, A, B, C, D.

FINISHING
Sew long sides of Panels together in the following order: I, II, III, IV, and V, changing color as needed so that the sewing yarn matches the yarn in one of the Panels. Weave in ends.

I love this pattern! Turning out very beautiful and you can really personalize the afghan by choosing your own colours, any can suit it. Very simple and quickly done, warm for the cold nights
