Easy Rib Knit Hat
Lion Brand® Hometown USA®
GAUGE: 9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in rib pattern worked in the rnd using larger needles, slightly stretched. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: 1. Hat is worked in the rnd on double pointed needles, beg at lower edge. 2. Hat is reversible and can be worn with either side facing out!

HAT With smaller needles, cast on 44 sts. Divide sts onto 4 double pointed needles (12 sts on each of first 3 needles, 8 sts on 4th needle). Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd. Rep Rnd 1 until piece measures about 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) from beg. Change to larger needles. Note: To change to larger needles, change one needle at a time as you work the next rnd. Next Rnd:*K3, p1; rep from * to end of rnd. Rep last rnd until piece measures about 10 in. (25.5 cm) from beg.
Shape Crown (Top of Hat) Next Rnd: *K3tog, p1; rep from * to end of rnd - 22 sts at the end of this rnd. Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail through remaining sts and pull to gather. Knot securely.
FINISHING Weave in ends. |

| Super simple pattern that works up beautifully! I knit this hat in one night, and although it was intended as a gift I liked it so much I kept it for myself! Will be making more and experimenting with color changes...
