Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Extra Soft Wool Blend
GAUGE: 20 sts + 26 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Broken Rib. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: PATTERN STITCHES
Broken Rib (worked over a multiple of 2 sts + 1 additional st)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2 (RS): Knit.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Broken Rib.
Basketweave Pattern (worked over a multiple of 8 sts + 2 additional sts)
Rows 1-5: K1, *k4, p4; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 6: Purl.
Rows 7-11: K1, *p4, k4; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 12: Purl.
Rep Rows 1-12 for Basketweave pattern.

NOTES: 1. Blanket beg with a Beginning Square. Sts for each 'log' of the log cabin are picked up across one edge of the previous piece.
2. Logs are worked back and forth in rows. A circular needle is used to accommodate the number of sts. Work back and forth in rows on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
3. Refer to diagram for where to pick up sts for each log.

Beginning Square
With A, cast on 26 sts.
Beg with Row 1, work in Basketweave pattern until a total of 36 rows have been completed.
Bind off.
First Log
With RS facing and B, pick up and k35 sts evenly spaced across right side edge of Beginning Square.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Second Log
With RS facing and H, pick up and k53 sts evenly spaced across side edge of First Log and bound-off edge of Beginning Square.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Third Log
With RS facing and C, pick up and k53 sts evenly spaced across bound-off edge of First Log and side edge of Second Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Fourth Log
With RS facing and G, pick up and k73 sts evenly spaced across side edge of Third Log and bound-off edge of Second Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Fifth Log
With RS facing and D, pick up and k73 sts evenly spaced across bound-off edge of Third Log and side edge of Fourth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Sixth Log
With RS facing and F, pick up and k93 sts evenly spaced across side edge of Fifth Log and bound-off edge of Fourth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.

Seventh Log
With RS facing and E, pick up and k93 sts evenly spaced across bound-off edge of Fifth Log and side edge of Sixth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Eighth Log
With RS facing and E, pick up and k113 sts evenly spaced across side edge of Seventh Log and bound-off edge of Sixth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Ninth Log
With RS facing and F, pick up and k113 sts evenly spaced across bound-off edge of Seventh Log and side edge of Eighth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Tenth Log
With RS facing and D, pick up and k133 sts evenly spaced across side edge of Ninth Log and bound-off edge of Eighth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Eleventh Log
With RS facing and G, pick up and k133 sts evenly spaced across bound-off edge of Ninth Log and side edge of Tenth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Twelfth Log
With RS facing and C, pick up and k153 sts evenly spaced across side edge of Eleventh Log and bound-off edge of Tenth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Thirteenth Log
With RS facing and H, pick up 153 sts evenly spaced across bound-off edge of Eleventh Log and side edge of Twelfth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
Fourteenth Log
With RS facing and B, pick up and k173 sts evenly spaced across side edge of Thirteenth Log and bound-off edge of Twelfth Log.
Work in Broken Rib for 23 rows.
Bind off.
POCKET
With A, cast on 50 sts.
Beg with Row 1 of pattern, rep Rows 1-12 of Basketweave pattern 4 times.
Next Row (RS): *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row.
Rep last row for 1 1/4 in. (3 cm).
Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew Pocket to same corner as Beginning Square. Note: Beginning Square and First Log will be completely covered by Pocket; Second Log will be partially covered.
First Border
With RS facing and A, following diagram, pick up and k173 sts evenly spaced across cast-on edge of Beginning Square and side edges of First, Third, Fifth, Seventh, Ninth, Eleventh and Thirteenth Logs.
Knit 1 row.
Bind off.
Following diagram, work Second, Third and Fourth Borders in same way with A or D as shown in diagram.
Sew corners of borders tog.
Weave in ends. |

| Made this for my Great Grandson What a HIT! The Martha Stewart Yarn was Glorious, the pattern was delightful. Made this in a weeks time, and Loved Loved, it, and so did He. The pocket was a hit with him, and the compliments I received made me cry. After a day at school, homeworked out, he sat on the landing of the steps, and wrapped himself up in it, and hasn't let it go since then...Thank you Lion Brand for this pattern and Martha Stewart for the cuddley yarn. I would post pictures, but the site they are posted on won't allow me... IT IS GEORGEOUS!
