Women's Double-Strand Toe Up Socks
Lion Brand® Sock-EaseTM
GAUGE: 24 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in rnds (k every rnd), with 2 strands of yarn held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: Note: Do not use an existing st to work a M1 or M1P. Both are worked using only the horizontal thread lying between needles as explained below.
M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new st through the back loop - 1 st increased.
M1P (make 1 as if to purl) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between the needles and placing it onto the left needle. Purl this new st through the back loop - 1 st increased.

SOCK (make 2)
Cast on following one of these methods:
Long Tail Cast On
Hold 2 larger dpn together, with one above the other. With 1 strand each of A and B held together, and using long tail cast on, cast on 24 sts as follows:
*Cast 1 st onto top needle, cast 1 st onto bottom needle; rep from * until 24 sts have been cast on - 12 sts on each needle, with last st cast onto bottom needle.
Optional Cast On
With 1 strand each of A and B held together, and larger dpn, use your preferred method to cast on 24 sts onto one needle.
With 2 additional larger dpns held together, with one above the other, sl 1 st at a time alternately onto the 2 additional dpns - 12 sts onto each needle, with last st on bottom needle.
Toe
Redistribute the sts onto 4 larger dpns as follows:
With first needle, k6 sts from top dpn, with second needle, k rem 6 sts from top dpn, place marker, with third needle, k6 sts from bottom dpn, with fourth needle, k rem 6 sts from bottom dpn, place marker.
Two markers placed, with 12 sts between each marker. Slip the markers (sm) on each rnd as you come to them.
With 1 strand each of A and B held tog, work in St st worked in rnds (k every rnd) for 2 rnds.
Increase Rnd: K1, M1, knit to 1 st before marker M1, k1, sm, k1, M1, knit to last st, M1, k1 - 28 sts at the end of this rnd.
Work in St st for 2 rnds.
Rep Increase Rnd - 32 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rep last 3 rnds 2 more times - 40 sts when all increases have been completed.
Foot
Cut A and join C. With 1 strand each of B and C held tog, work in St st until piece measures 7 1/2 in. (19 cm) from toe or 1 in. (2.5 cm) less than desired total foot length to heel.
Cut C and join A.
Shape Heel
Note: Heel is worked back and forth in rows, on sts of 2 needles only. The rem sts, on the other 2 needles, will be worked later. The heel is shaped with short rows, Short rows are rows that are worked over a portion of the sts in a row, leaving the rem sts unworked. When working short rows, the pattern instructions will tell you to 'turn' before you reach the end of the row.
Row 1 (RS): With 1 strand each of A and B held tog, k19, turn.
Row 2 (WS): Sl 1 as if to purl, p17, turn.

| I have to say that I LOVE knitting socks and will try these toe up socks but I will be using a different yarn. I think $42 for a pair of socks is just a little outrageous!
