Image of Berry Sparkle Scarf

Slip-stitch color-work creates beautiful textures in this scarf. The pattern of this scarf gives it a unique patchwork look with a vibrant color palate. Shades are blended together by holding multiple strands together while knitting.

Berry Sparkle Scarf

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice® - Vanna's Glamour®

GAUGE:

19 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern with one strand of A or B, OR 2 strands of C or D.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

PATTERN STITCHES
Woven Stitch (multiple of 2 sts)
Notes:
1. With yarn in front (wyif) refers to the side of the work facing you as you work the row.
2. With yarn in back (wyib) refers to the side of the work that is away from you as you work the row.
3. To move yarn from front to back or back to front, bring yarn between needles. Take care not to wrap yarn over a needle, this could create an additional st.
4. All sl sts should be slipped as if to purl.
Row 1 (RS): *K1, sl 1 wyif; rep from * across.
Row 2: *P1, sl 1 wyib; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Woven st pattern.

Seed St (over an even number of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across the row.

NOTES:

1. Yarns C and D are each worked with 2 strands held tog. Wind C and D each into 2 separate balls before beginning.
2. Stitch markers are used to separate the border sts at both ends of each row from the Woven pattern sts.

Berry Sparkle Scarf Reviewed by victoria Healy on 2011-01-10 ****
I have just started to do this project. It is quite easy and fun to do. I could not help but notice that the yarns suggested look quite different from the picture that comes with the pattern. I would like to see the actual scarf that the model is wearing spread out lengthwise. Also, there is nothing sparkly about the scarf in the picture and it seems to have quite a bit more charcoal in the project than the pattern suggests.
