SIZE: Small, Medium
Small: 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) cuff to top
Medium: 7 1/4" (18.4 cm) cuff to top
Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.

Fingerless Gloves

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

GAUGE:

5 sts = 1" (2.5 cm) on 6/G hook
4 sts = 1" (2.5 cm) on 8/H hook BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

For size small, use 6/G (4 mm) hook. For size medium, use 8/H (5 mm) hook.

To change colors, at end of row, before finishing last stitch, complete sc stitch by pulling in new color yarn through last 2 lps on hook, ch 1, turn with new color, carry previous yarn along for 6 to 8 stitches before you fasten it off.

Cuff
Foundation row: With A, ch 13. Work 1 sc in second ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn-12 sts.
Row 1: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc tbl of each st across, ch 1, turn.
Rep row 1 for 22 rows more-24 rows. Using tapestry needle, sew cuff seams tog to form tube.

Palm
Worked in rnds.
Rnd 1: Join A to either side of cuff and work 24 sc evenly around, pm for beg of rnd, and cont rnds.
Rnds 2-4: Work 1 sc in each st around-24 sts.
Rnd 5: Work 2 sc in beg st, 1 sc in each of next 11 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 11 sts, change to B, ch 1, turn, fasten off A - 26 sts.
Beg thumb opening
Row 6: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row 7: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across, change to C, ch 1, turn.
Row 8: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row 9: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across, change to B, ch 1, turn, fasten off C.
Row 10: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.
Row 11: Work 1 sc in first st, 1 sc in each st across, change to A, fasten off B.
Rnd 12: Work 1 sc in next st to join rnd, 1 sc in each st around.
Rnds 13-18: Work 1 sc in each st around, Sl st in last st, fasten off.

Measure your child's hand from tip of fingers to top base of thumb. If needed, add or dec rnds bet 13 and 18.

Rnd 19: Join B, ch 1, work 1 sc in next st, change to C, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, alternate B and C every 2 sts, ending with C, Sl st to first st, fasten off.

Thumb Opening
Rnd 1:
Join A to thumb opening and work 15 sc evenly around opening.
Rnd 2: Work 1 sc in each st around, Sl st in first st, fasten off.

Weave in loose ends, using tapestry needle. Make second glove using same patt.

I made this last year for my then 3.5 year old. I did it in a single color, with a scalloped boarder near the fingers. Very cute and warm.
