GAUGE:
17 sts + 24 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased.
NOTES:
1. Pullover is knit circularly, in one piece from the neck down. Sleeves are knit downwards from body.
2. To create a stretchy, elastic neck that will slip easily over baby's head, it is important that you cast on very loosely. We suggest you use a spare needle one or two sizes larger to cast on, then change to smaller needles to knit the sweater.
