GAUGE:

VARIES. SEE INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTIONS. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

GRIT STITCH WASHCLOTH

GAUGE: 13 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern st.

With A, chain 35.
Row 1: Skip 2 chains (counts as single crochet), double crochet in next chain, *skip 1 chain, work (single crochet, double crochet) in next chain; repeat from * to last 2 chains, skip next chain, single crochet in last chain – 17 (single crochet, double crochet) pattern repeats.
Row 2: Chain 1 (counts as single crochet), turn, double crochet in first single crochet, *skip next double crochet, work (single crochet, double crochet) in next single crochet; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, skip next double crochet, single crochet in top of turning chain.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10 1/2 in. (26.5 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

BACK LOOP STITCH WASHCLOTH

GAUGE: 16 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern stitch.

With A, chain 44.
Row 1: Skip 2 chains (counts as half double crochet), half double crochet in each remaining chain across.
Row 2: Chain 2 (counts as half double crochet), turn, half double crochet in back loop only of each half double crochet across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10 1/2 in. (26.5 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

SEDGE STITCH WASHCLOTH

GAUGE: 12 1/2 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern stitch.

With B, chain 33.
Row 1: Skip 2 chains (counts as single crochet), work 2 double crochet in next chain, *skip 2 chains, work (single crochet, 2 double crochet) in next chain; repeat from * to last 3 chains, skip 2 chains, single crochet in last chain – 10 (single crochet, 2 double crochet) pattern repeats.
Row 2: Chain 1 (counts as single crochet), turn, 2 double crochet in first single crochet, *skip 2 double crochet, (single crochet, 2 double crochet) in next single crochet; repeat from * across, single crochet in turning chain.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10 1/2 in. (26.5 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

DOUBLE CROCHET WASHCLOTH

GAUGE: 13 double crochet = 4 in. (10 cm).

With C, chain 32.
Row 1: Double crochet in 4th chain from hook and each chain across – 30 double crochet (3 skipped chains at beginning count as 1 double crochet).
Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as double crochet), turn, double crochet in each double crochet across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10 1/2 in. (26.5 cm) from beginning. Do not fasten off.
Edging
Round 1: Chain 1, turn, 3 single crochet in first stitch (corner made), single crochet in each stitch across to last stitch, work 3 single crochet in last stitch (corner made); turn to work along the edge of rows, single crochet evenly spaced along the edges of row; turn to work along opposite side of beginning chain, work 3 single crochet in first chain along opposite side (corner made), single crochet in each chain along opposite side to last chain, work 3 single crochet in last chain (corner made); turn to work along the edge of rows, single crochet evenly spaced along the edges of row; join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
Round 2: Chain 1, turn, *single crochet in each stitch across to center single crochet of next corner, work 3 single crochet in center single crochet; repeat from * around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

I particularly LOVE the sedge stitch. Then again, I haven't finished it and it's my first one from the set, so I may yet love another one more. :)
