STITCH EXPLANATION:

skp (slip 1, k1, pass slipped stitch over) Slip 1 as if to knit, k1, pass slipped stitch over - 1 st decreased.
sk2p (slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over) Slip 1 as if to knit, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over - 2 sts decreased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit)Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and k them together - 1 st decreased.

 

PATTERN STITCH
Lacy Stitch (multiple of 8 sts)
Row 1 and all WS rows: P2, * p2tog, yo, p6; rep from * to last 6 sts, p2tog, yo, k4.
Row 2: P2, * skp, yo, k2, yo, ssk, k2; rep from * to last 6 sts, skp, yo, k2, p2.
Row 4: P2, * skp, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k1; rep from * to last 6 sts, skp, yo, k2, p2.
Row 6: P2, * skp, yo, k4, yo, ssk; rep from * to last 6 sts, skp, yo, k2, p2.
Row 8: P2, skp * yo, k5, yo, sk2p; rep from * to last 4 sts, yo, k2, p2.
Rep Rows 1-8 for Lacy st.

NOTES:

Side edges of Washcloth are not identical.

WASHCLOTH
Cast on 40 sts.
Knit 3 rows.
Rep Rows 1-8 of Lacy st until piece measures about 9 1/2 in. (24.5 cm) from beginning.
Knit 3 rows.
Bind off.

FINISHING
