GAUGE:

16 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm) with A. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Pond Friends Stacking Toy Reviewed by Bri on 2014-04-17 ****
This is really cute, and I enjoyed making it up :). The rings are a bit smaller than I think they should to fit over the head, but over all it was cute. I kind wish I had used a dowel in the base like I think I saw someone mentioned, but it still turned out well, made a great gift, and was fun to make using up some of my yarn stash :)!
