School Colors Scarf

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

16 dc = 4 in. (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

With A, chain 22.
Row 1: Double crochet in 4th ch from hook and in each chain across.
Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), turn. Double crochet in each double crochet across – 20 double crochet.
Rows 3-6: Repeat Row 2. At end of Row 6, change to B.
Rows 7-12: With B, repeat Row 2. At end of Row 12, change to A.
Rows 13-18: With A, repeat Row 2. At end of Row 18, change to B.
Repeat Rows 7-18 four more times.
Fasten off.

Cut 10 in. (25.5 cm) strands of A and B. For each fringe, fold 8 strands of yarn in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of piece, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Make 7 fringe along each end of Scarf, alternating A and B colors. Trim fringe ends evenly.
Weave in ends.
