GAUGE:

12 double crochet + 4 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Row 1: Double crochet in 3rd chain from hook, *double crochet in next chain, 2 double crochet in next chain; repeat from * across.

Crochet Ruffle Scarf Reviewed by reid burroughs on 2009-11-20
It took me 90 minutes to complete this scarf. Stayed as close to gauge as possible and had to use a L size hook. Then I adjusted the chain to the length I wanted the scarf to be so it can wrap 2 times around the neck or tie a loose knot as the model is so beautifully wearing. I was able to complete the scarf with one skein of Homespun by making these adjustments. The pattern could be written to measurement rather than to stitch count since it is not vital to the finished piece. What a fun fast warm project.
