Happy New Year! Now that 2017 is upon us, it’s time for that annual tradition: resolutions. We all want to better ourselves, and there’s no time like the start of the year to get underway.
Forget the fitness goals, household organization, and languages you want to learn, we want to know what you plan to do this year in the yarn world. Do you plan to learn a new skill? Finally master that tricky technique you’ve been struggling with? Finish your back log of works in progress? Whatever it is, we want to hear about.
Personally, I plan to learn to crochet. Yes, that’s correct, I’ve been writing for this blog for months and I can only knit. Mea culpa. But that’s going to change! In fact, I’ll be posting a regular feature on my journey to finally master the skill. We’ll have more information on that later this week, so if you’d like to learn alongside me, keep your eye out.

I plan to master Granny Squares, learn 3-5 new crochet stitches and make a temperature blanket with a couple throw pillows.

I’m planning to crochet a temperature blanket in granny stripes: a new project & a new pattern. In fact, I don’t have an exact pattern, so that will be a new challenge for me. I’ve ordered the yarn colors I’ll need for winter and have set up note cards to record daily temperatures. Can’t wait to get started!

I did the purging of unnecessary things in my life, I cleared out the eaten wool, and put into storage all of my needles except my Denise set. This year, I’m forcing myself to live with less. I’m choosing yarn for specific projects so no stash accumulates and I’m not starting a new project until the current work is completed. I began living like this in December as we are in temporary housing for the next few months. Honestly, it’s so much easier this way. I can enjoy my handiwork now as opposed to worrying about the tangled half gnawed on mess in the closet. Also, I’m not buying any pure wool this year. I am looking forward to easy care and stress free knitting.
