Love this easy hat pattern!

Thank for such a great pattern. The instructions were clear & easy to follow. I am especially grateful for the tip of using the stitch markers at each increase. I always get lost on those and have to rip out rounds like crazy. This tip made it fool-proof. I made this hat for my sister for Christmas and I’m so proud to give her such a wonderful gift. Once again, thank you for a great pattern.

Had to learn to Crochet to make this Hat!!

I am a forever knitter but had to learn crochet to make this hat. I joined the designers Facebook group and taught myself to create this beautiful and best fitting sun hat ever. I ordered 2 kits and then ordered more yarn so I can eventually have one in every color. Instructions were clear and video tutorial really helped.

I haven't used the tape yarn before but found it pretty easy to work with, the hat is not totally complete but looks really great I think!

Surprisingly huge

Even though I have a large head, went down a hook size, checked my gauge twice, tore out 20 rows, and followed the directions for the small size, and crocheted very tightly, this still was so big that it’s laughably huge and virtually unwearable. I can’t figure out what I did wrong, I am an experienced crocheter and have done these kind of things before, so I’m baffled. I put an hours of work on this, even going to the hardware store and purchasing the wire rope—and now I won’t be wearing it so I’m disappointed frankly. My hat’s off, pun intended, to anyone who made this pattern and it came out right. I’m sure the fault is mine, but I am probably never going to attempt something like this again.

Hello - we're sorry that this project didn't turn out as envisioned! Sometimes with slippery tape yarns like this changing the material of your hook can make a difference in the gauge. A metal hook might give you a looser gauge than a plastic hook, which in turn might give you a looser gauge than a bamboo hook. If you do decide to give it another try we suggest using a bamboo hook and seeing if that reduces the hat size.
