GAUGE: 20 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace Stitch. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: sk2p Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over-2 sts decreased.

Lace Stitch (multiple of 17 sts, decreasing to 15 sts on Rows 2-7)

Row 5: *P5, (k1, p1) twice, k1, p5; rep from *.
Row 6: *K1, yo, k3, yo, sk2p, p1, k3tog, yo, k3, yo, k1; rep from *.

Cast on 34 sts. Beginning with Row 1, rep 8 rows of Lace Stitch until piece measures 36 in. (91.5 cm) from beginning, end with Row 8. Bind off.

| This pattern turned out really nicely. I knit two scarves and each one only took a couple days to knit. I choose to knit my scarves longer than suggested in the pattern, as I think it looked nicer.
