Simple Shawl
Lion Brand® Woolspun (old)
GAUGE: Gauge is not important; however, the shawl should be "drapey".
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Shawl is knit entirely in garter stitch (knit every row).
|
|
SHAWL Cast on 3 stitches. Row 1 Slip first stitch as if to purl, yarn over, knit across. Repeat Row 1 until last skein is nearly gone.
Tip When you are nearly out of yarn, finish your row. Then measure the remaining yarn against your last row. You will need 3.5 to 4 times the length of the last row in order to have enough yarn to bind off successfully.
Bind off.

| I made this pattern for myself using Homespun and it turned out so nice that my 2 daughters and granddaughter each received one too. It is simple to make and can be done in a few evenings in front of the tv, since it doesn't take a lot of concentration. The Homespun is so soft and really keeps you warm on a chilly evening.
