GAUGE: 14 sts and 16 rows = 4" in garter st on size 10½ needles.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This poncho is one of the easist to knit, and best of all seamless, items I have found in free patterns. It is lovely. When I get time after the holidays to make one for myself I will. I am using a navy blue boucle, and the texture looks very much like the discontinued yarn in this picture. You will not be disappointed in this pattern.
