Vertical-Striped Poncho: Woman's Version
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
GAUGE:
8 sts + 13 rows = 4" [10 cm] in St st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
This poncho is made of 2 rectangles worked sideways so the stripes run vertically on the body. The rectangles are sewn together at the center of the garment.
PONCHO
RIGHT SIDE

LEFT SIDE

FINISHING
Place pieces with wrong sides together, matching cast on and bound off edges. Sew pieces together with a running stitch just below the bound off edge so the edges form a ridge on the outside of the work. Sew for 20" [51 cm], starting at one edge. Fasten off. Sew second seam starting at the other edge for 20" [51 cm], leaving 10" [25.5 cm] in the center open for the neck opening. Weave in ends.

Vertical-Striped Poncho: Woman's Version Reviewed by Isabel Stone on 2013-01-28
Since I had Chenille Thick and Quick in stash (and the chart says I can sub this for WETQ) I made it up very fast and loved the look...but the neck was a problem, since the whole thing was very heavy...so I sewed the neck shut and am very happy with a lapghan.
I am sure the pattern is fine in the right yarn. It is stunning with the varied stripes.
