GAUGE:
20 sts and 28 rnds to 4 inches [10 cm] in stockinette st knit circularly using Size 7 needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1. Hat is knit circularly in one piece. Lower edge of hat will roll naturally. 2. When changing colors, twist yarns on WS (bringing new color under old) to avoid holes.
HAT:
With circular needles and A, cast on 88 sts. Place marker and join, being careful not to twist sts. Knit every rnd until piece measures 31/4" from cast-on edge.
