Lion Brand® Pound of Love - Wool-Ease®

GAUGE:

16 sts + 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) on larger needle. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

STITCH PATTERN

2-color Seed St (worked on an odd number of sts):

Row 1 (RS) With MC, *k 1, p 1; repeat from * to last st, end k 1.

Row 2 (WS) With CC, *k 1, p 1; repeat from * to last st, end k 1.

Next Row Slide work to other end of needle (WS row faces; MC yarn end is ready to be used on next row). With MC, p the k sts and k the p sts across row.

Continue to alternate one row MC with one row CC and repeat this last row for pat, sliding work to opposite end of circular needles as necessary to reach working yarn.

End odd number of rows with MC; cut CC.

NOTES:

Pieces are knitted back and forth on circular needles (do not join work into circle). When working 2-color seed stitch pattern, slide work to other end of needle as necessary for the yarn to be ready for next row.

With MC and larger needle, cast on 101 sts. *Work St st for 5 inches, ending with a WS row. Join CC. Work 2-color seed st for 9 rows*. Repeat from * to * 2 more times. Work St st for 5 inches, ending with a RS row. Do not bind off.

Edging **Set-up row: Work 1 (WS) row in seed st with MC. Work 2-color seed st for 2 inches, inc 1 st at each end of every RS row, taking care to keep seed st as est, ending with a RS row (MC). Next Row With MC, bind off in seed st.** On each remaining side of Blanket pick up 101 sts and repeat from ** to ** for edging. Sew Blanket corners.

Next Row & all WS rows Purl.

Next RS Row K2tog across row, end k 1 (0) – 15 (16) sts.

Next RS Row K3tog 5 (4) times, k4tog 0 (1) time – 5 sts remain. Join CC. Work 2-color seed st cord as follows: Work in seed st on 5 sts; sliding work to opposite end of needle at beg of each row alternating 1 row MC and 1 row CC until cord is 4 inches or desired length. Bind off. Sew back seam of Hat. Tie cord in knot, tack cord end to top of Hat neatly hiding bound-off edge.

Back

Continue in established pattern on back sts only until piece measures 10 (12) inches from beg. Bind off back sts.
