Chicks with Sticks - Criss-cross shrug and playset
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®
GAUGE:
24 stitches x 36 rows = 4 in [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
SHRUG With A, cast on 12 stitches, leaving a tail of about 8 inches. Knit in
garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measure 13 inches. Bind off all
stitches, leaving a tail of about 8 inches.
Finishing Cut 24 2-inch [5 cm] pieces each of (B) and (C). Using the crochet hook,
loop a piece through each of the end 12 stitches, knotting into place. When the
end is entirely fringed, trim fringe to approximately ½ inch [1 cm].
Thread the tail of the yarn on one end of shrug through the large-eyed blunt
needle and, starting at the end, sew the two long edges of the shrug together
for 3 inches [7.5 cm] to form a sleeve and tie off the yarn securely:
Starting at the other end, the tail of the the yarn on through
the large-eyed blunt needle and, starting at the end, sew the two long edges of
the shrug together to form the second sleeve.
Wearing Put one arm in the sleeve and wrap behind the back, under the other arm and
up over the shoulder. Put the other arm in the other sleeve. Leave as is or
fasten with a pin (a post earring with a wide back that has lost its mate makes
an elegant pin!)
MINI-CATALOG
Click here to open the image of the catalog. Print this on your
computer's printer (there are two copes on a single page in case you have a
problem with the assembly.) Cut the strips of images. There are 10 pages with a black line between each page. The black line means that you should fold the
strip on that line. The folds go opposite ways, so when you are done, the strip
will look like an accordion:
Lay the strip flat, right side down and cover the back side with
glue. Carefully (so the gluey part only touches another gluey part -- not the
right side), fold it back up. Every page will now show as having printing on
both sides!
Trim the top and bottom edges if needed to make them even. If you would like a real catalog of your own, click here -- they are free!
