GAUGE:

8 stitches + 10 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Stockinette Stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Poncho is worked with 2 strands of Microspun held together throughout.
2. Knit first and last stitch on every purl (wrong side) row.

PONCHO
With 2 strands Microspun held together, cast on 44 stitches. Knit 2 rows. Work in Stockinette Stitch, knitting first and last stitch of each row, until piece measures 46 inches [117 cm] from beginning, ending with a wrong side (purl) row. Knit 2 rows. Bind off all stitches. Weave in ends.

FINISHING
Fold piece in half widthwise. Working from outer edge towards fold, sew seam, leaving top edge open about 11 inches [28 cm] from fold.

Cut ribbon into 22 inches [56 cm] lengths for fringe. Attach fringe evenly along lower edge and randomly along one side and at neck edge.
