Lion Brand® Microspun
GAUGE: 20 sts + 20 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Body Pattern on larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: PATTERN STITCHES
Body Pattern (multiple of 8 sts + 2)
Note Twist yarns on WS when changing colors to prevent holes.
Row 1 (RS) With MC, p 1, k 1, p 1; with CC, k 1, slip 2 wyib; *k 6, slip 2 wyib; repeat from * to last 4 sts, k 1; join 2nd strand of MC, k 1, p 1, k 1.
Row 2 With MC, k 1, p 1, k 1; with CC, p 1, slip 2 wyif; *p 6, slip 2 wyif; repeat from * to last 4 sts, p 1; with MC, p 1, k 1, p 1.
Rows 3-6 Repeat Rows 1-2.
Rows 7-8 With MC, knit.
Repeat Rows 1-8 with each of the CC yarns for Body Pattern. Seed Stitch (multiple of 2 sts)
Row 1 *K 1, p 1; repeat from * across.
Row 2 Purl the knit sts and knit the purl sts as they present themselves.
Repeat Row 2 for Seed Stitch.

BAG BACK
With larger needles and MC, cast on 50 sts. Work 5 rows in Seed st. Change to Body Pattern, working first repeat with CC1 and continuing through all 7 CCs – 61 rows total. With MC, work 4 rows in Seed st.
Dec Row K 1, k2tog through back loop, work in Seed st to last 3 sts, k2tog, k 1. Continuing in Seed st, repeat Dec Row every other row until 6 sts remain. Bind off, leaving a 12 inches [30.5 cm] tail. With crochet hook and tail, make a short chain. Use tail to secure, forming a loop for closure.FRONT
Work as for Back through CC5. With MC, work 5 rows in Seed st. Bind off. HANDLE
Make 3 knitted cords, 1 each in CC1, CC2, and CC6, as follows. Using double-pointed needles, cast on 3 sts. *Slide sts to other end of needle and knit them, pulling yarn tightly across the back of the work. (Do not turn work.) Repeat from * until cord measures 14 inches [35.5 cm]. Pin the 3 cords together at one end and braid. Pin other end to secure. FINISHING
Sew side and bottom seams. Sew ends of braided cords to each side seam. Sew button under loop. Weave in ends. OPTIONAL
Line purse and/or embellish with sequins and beads if desired.
