Bias Knit Scarf

Lion Brand® Moonlight Mohair

12 stitches (measured along bias row; Note: final scarf width above is measured horizontally across body of scarf, not diagonally along the bias) + 16 rows (8 ridges) = 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch (knit every row). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Cast on 18 stitches.

Row 1 Slip first stitch as if to purl. Knit into front and back of next stitch (increase 1). Knit until 3 stitches remain on needle, knit 2 together (decrease 1), knit 1 – 18 stitches.

Row 2 Slip first stitch as if to purl. Knit to end.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until about 24 inches of yarn remains. Bind off loosely and weave in ends.

Bias Knit Scarf Reviewed by Isabel Stone on 2010-11-26 *****
A quick easy pattern that is fun to knit. The finished scarf Glacier Bay)was just the right length to lightly wrap over and tuck into my open collared jacket. Since it was a little "itchy" I added Fun Fur in black, on the edge later, with a crocheted slip stitch. I also made the Warm Wristlets mitts with a second skein of the Glacier Bay Moonlight Mohair. The set looks pretty "uptown" to me!
