SIZE: 24 months (2 yrs), Child 3-7, Child 9-10 Child's small, medium and large to fit 6 months - 3 years (3-7 years, 7-10 years) respectively

GAUGE: 12 sts + 19 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with A on largest needles.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

b>PANDA HAT
With A, cast on 56 (62, 66) sts. Work in St st for 22 (24, 26) rows.
Shape Top
Row 1 (RS) K 1 (1, 0), *k 4, k2tog; rep from * 8 (9, 10) times, end k 1 (1 ,0) – 47 (52, 55) sts.
Rows 2, 4 and 6 Purl.
Row 3 K 1 (1, 0), *k 3, k2tog; rep from * 8 (9, 10) times, end k 1 (1, 0) – 38 (42, 44) sts.
Row 5 K 1 (1, 0), *k 2, k2tog; rep from * 8 (9,10) times, end k 1 (1, 0) – 29 (32, 33) sts.
Row 7 K 1 (0, 1), *k2tog; rep from * 6 (7, 7) times – 15 (16, 17) sts.
Row 8 *P2tog; rep from * 6 (7, 6) times, end p 1 (0, 0), p3tog 0 (0, 1) time – 8 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing seam. With large-eyed blunt needle, thread tail through remaining sts on needle. Pull tightly and secure. Sew back seam.
EYE – Make 2
With B, cast on 21 sts loosely. Knit 3 rows. Pass all sts, 1 at a time, over first st. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining st; pull to tighten.
EAR – Make 4
Work as for Eye. Sew 2 Ear pieces tog for each Ear.
NOSE
With A, cast on 15 sts. Work in St st for 8 rows.
Next Row (RS) *K2tog; rep from * to last st, k 1 – 8 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining sts; pull tightly and secure. Sew Nose seam.
TIP OF NOSE
With B, cast on 5 sts. Knit 2 rows. Purl 1 row.
Next Row K2tog, k 1, k2tog – 3 sts.
Next Row Purl.
Next Row K3tog – 1 st.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining st; pull to tighten. With points tog, sew Tip to Nose.
TONGUE
With C, cast on 3 sts. Work 4 rows in St st. K3tog. Thread tail through remaining st; pull to tighten.
FINISHING
Using photo as a guide, sew knit Eyes and Ears in place. Stuff Nose and sew in place. Glue squiggle eyes to center of knit Eyes. With B, embroider mouth. Sew Tongue to mouth.

| I made this for my brother in the Air Force, no man in the armed forces should be without a classy panda hat. It was very simple to do and instead of making the cylandrical nose, I just embroidered the mouth and nose on it.
