GAUGE:
12 sts + 19 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with A on largest needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I made this for my 2 year old grandson. He loved it and wouldn't take it off. My 5 year old grandson got hold of it and wore it until the 2 year old spied it. Now I have to make another one for the older grandchild. Thanks for such a cute design.
