Glamorous Doll Dress and Stole

Lion Brand® Lion® Chenille - Fun Fur®

18 sts + 26 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) with smaller needles and A. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

The amount of yarn used in this project is very small and it is a great project for using up left-over yarn. A single full skein of each yarn will make at least 6 copies of this outfit.

With A and size 4 needles, cast on 24 sts.
Row 1 Knit
Row 2 Purl
Row 3 K5, k2tog, k to last 6 sts, k2tog, k to end of row - 22 sts
Row 4, 6, 8 and 10 Purl
Row 5 Rep 3 - 20 sts
Row 7 Rep 3 - 18 sts
Row 9 Rep 3 - 16 sts
Row 11 *K1,knit into the back and front of next st (increase made). Rep from * to end of row - 24 sts
Row 12, 14, 16 Purl
Row 13 Rep 11 - 36 sts
Row 15
Row 17 **K2,knit into the back and front of next st (increase made). Rep from ** to end of row - 48 sts
Rows 18 and 20 Purl
Row 19 Knit
Row 21 Rep 17 - 64 sts
Row 22-29 work even in St st.
Bind off.

Wrap dress around doll and position button (dress wraps completely over in the front and is two layers thick). Sew on button. The gauge of the knitting is loose enough that a buttonhole is not required.

With larger needles and B, cast on 40 stitches
Knit 14 Rows
Bind off all stitches, weave in ends.

Very nice! My daughter is getting married and asked me and my knitting group nicely if we'd make something pretty for each child's barbie doll, which was the bridesmaid's gift. There were six bridesmaids and seven knitters - one of the old ladies' daughter joined so they could work together on things. All the outfits were made beautifully for the pretty Barbies
