GAUGE: 13 sts = 4"
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: PATTERN STITCH
Row 1: K each st wrapping yarn around needle 2 times.
Row 2: K each st dropping extra wraps.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for pat st. |

Picot Hem: K 1, (yo, k2tog) across row, end k 1. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 8 rows. Work in pat st until 15" from beg. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 8 rows. Picot Hem: K 1, (yo, k2tog) across row, end k 1. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 8 rows. Bind off. Handles (make 2):With size 6 knitting needles, cast on 24 sts. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 6 rows. Picot Hem: K 1, (yo, k2tog) across row, end k 1. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 6 rows. Bind off. FINISHING: Fold handle in half and sew the cast-on sts to bound-off sts (inner edge of handle). Sew each handle invisibly to the beg and end of the ribbings at each end of Scrubber. Shell Edging: With RS facing, join yarn with sl st, leaving handle free and with crochet hook work 18 shells evenly spaced across each long edge as foll: Sc in st below rib, *ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, skip 1 row, sc in next sp; rep from * across, end sc in last st on row. Fasten off.

| I was very determined to knit this pattern.Read the instructions SERVERAL times, and I DID IT!I used 100% mercerized cotton and prefer circular needle. The pattern came out really well. I learn visually,handicapped by dyslexia, so I wish the photo was larger,so I could see how the finished product SHOULD look! A couple of finishing instructions (handles)not clear, but I have a BACK SCRUBBER! Have started making them as Christmas presents and will couple with jar of homemade sugar scrubs...
