GAUGE:

Each square measures 7¼ inches x 7¼ inches. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

FINISHING:
Assembly:
With cast-on corners touching at center of block, join 4 squares to form a 14½ in square block (leaves radiate from center out to corners of block). Make 12 blocks. Join blocks to form a panel, 3 blocks by 4 blocks.
Border: On RS, using circular needles, pick up and k 180 sts (30 sts for each square) across one narrow end of panel. Work in garter st (k each row) and inc 1 st each end of every other row. Work until there are 8 ridges (16 rows) on RS. Bind off on next WS row. Repeat on other narrow end of panel. Work in same manner, picking up 240 sts along each side edge. Neatly sew shaped border edges together to form mitered corners.

'Cascading Leaves' Throw Reviewed by Mary Hannon on 2010-04-16 *****
I am a very experienced knitter. Would not have even attempted this pattern had it not been for the counter on the left-hand side of the printing - what a huge help it was!! Am looking forward to finishing this beauty.
