If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Knitted 'Waterfall' Throw Reviewed by Sondra Bentz on 2008-08-29
I'm presently knitting this afghan, but am enjoying it. I chose the colors, "Mediterrean" and "Rocco" because they coordinate best with my daughter's living room colors. Because knitting and purling behind the stitches twists the yarn, the afghan has a waterfall look even with these two colors!
I began the project on straight size 35 knitting needles, but as the length increased, the weight became too heavy and there were too many stitches on one needle, so the stitches were too close together. I looked in every craft and yarn store in my town, but none of them sold size 35 circular needles! I looked online, and I bought a pair through Lion Brand! I transferred the stitches to the circular needles and I'm more comfortable knitting.
The pattern picture is lovely in the "Waterfall Blue" yarn, but the pattern stitches seem to enhance the two colors I chose.
I will knit this afghan again in the future. This will make a good wedding gift to give to relatives and friends.
