Mock Granny Stitch
Pattern (multiple of 4 sts + 2)
Row 1 (WS) K2tog, k to last 2 sts,
k2tog – 2 sts decreased.
Note: For M and L Sizes Only The first time Row 1 is worked, two
extra decreases are needed to accommodate pattern. Work Row 1 of M
and L the first time only as follows: K2tog, k2tog, k to last 4
sts, k2tog, k2tog.
PONCHO SECTION (Make 4)
Cast on 54 (72, 72) sts. Work 4 rows of Scalloped Edge Pattern 3
(3, 4) times. Work in Mock Granny Stitch Pattern, sizes M and L
Only, begin and end first row of first repeat only with k2tog
twice instead of once – 52 (68, 68) sts at end of first row.
Work even in Mock Granny Stitch Pattern until 14 (18, 14) sts
remain.

GAUGE: 11 sts + 18 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on
WS).
12 sts + 16 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Mock Granny st. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: (k 1, p 1) in yo Knit into yo from previous row but do not drop yo from needle. Bring yarn to front and p into same yo. Drop yo from needle.PATTERN STITCHES Scalloped Edge Pattern (multiple of 18 sts)
Row 1 (WS) Knit.
Row 2 Knit.
Row 3 Purl.
Row 4 *[K2tog] 3 times, [yo, k 1] 6 times, [k2tog] 3 times; repeat from *. Note There are 6 increases and 6 decreases per repeat; you will have the same number of sts at the end of this row that you did when you began. Repeat Rows 1-4 for Scalloped Edge Pattern. NOTES: Poncho is worked in 4 sections which are then sewn tog.

 PONCHO SECTION – Make 4

For All Sizes Place remaining 14 sts on a st holder to work later for neck. FINISHING Sew sections tog from bottom of Scalloped Edge to neck, leaving 1 of the 4 seams open. Slip all neck sts onto needle. K 56 sts every row until neck edging measures 2 inches [5 cm], ending with a WS row. Bind off all sts loosely.

My auntie knit this for my daughter in a thick chunky slub. It is beautiful and she said it was easy to do. I knit a funky flower hat with the last bit of yarn to go with the poncho.
Recommended.
