Length 14 (15)" [35.5 (38) cm], without fringe

Ponchette / Capelet

Lion Brand® Homespun®

GAUGE:

10 sts + 18 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in St st (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

CAPELET

Cast on 130 (140) sts. Place marker and join, being careful not to twist.

Rnd 1 Knit.

Rnd 2 Purl.

Repeat these two rounds until piece measures 3 inches [7.5 cm]

Change to rnds of St st and decrease 10 sts evenly spaced around – 120 (130) sts. Work even in rnds of St st until piece measures 9 (10) inches [23 (25.5) cm] from beg.

Decrease Rnd *K 1, k2tog; repeat from * around as many times as possible; k any remaining sts – 80 (87) sts.

Work even until piece measures 11½ (12½) inches [29 (32) cm] from beg.

Repeat Decrease Rnd – 54 (58) sts.

Work 2 rnds even.

Repeat Decrease Rnd – 36 (39) sts.

Work even until piece measures 13 (14) inches [33 (35.5) cm] from beg.

Next Rnd Purl.

Next Rnd Knit.

Repeat last 2 rnds for 1 inches [2.5 cm].

Bind off all sts loosely.

Decrease once will be enough Reviewed by ruby ti on 2011-02-20 ****
You will be very happy with the final product if you cast on and bind off REALLY, REALLY LOOSE, and decrease only once (leave 54(58) stitches), I made it with Homespun Marble and the dye gave me a very nice stripy effect.
