GAUGE:

12 sts and 18 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch (St st) using size 10½ (6.5mm) needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Cape Reviewed by Lydia Dunkle on 2009-10-14 *
I actually tried to knit this pattern twice: once with the first pattern I downloaded and second with the "corrected" pattern that was available. I used the yarn and needles recommended and I am a very experienced knitter; the thing came out looking like an oddly shaped blanket and nothing at all like the photo or anything that resembled a cape. I would stay far away from this one. You'll only end up frustrated and disappointed.
