GAUGE: 18 sts + 38 rows = 4 in.[10cm] in Chevron Slip Stitch pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: Chevron Slip Stitch
Rnd 1: With A, *k1, sl 1; rep from * around.
Rnd 2: With A, knit.
Rnd 3: With B, *k1, sl 1; rep from * around.
Rnd 4: With B, knit.
Rep Rnds 1-4 for Chevron Slip Stitch. |

BAG
With B, cast on 92 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Work
in Chevron Slip Stitch Pattern until piece measures 8 in.[20 cm] from beg, end with Rnd 4. Cut A.
With B, knit 2 rnds.
Make eyelets
Next Rnd: K2, bind off 2, *(k5, bind off 2 sts for eyelet), rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Next Rnd: Knit, casting on 2 sts over bound-off sts of previous rnd.
Knit 1 rnd, purl 1 rnd.
Bind off.
Knitted Drawstring Cord (worked on 2 double-pointed needles)
With A, cast on 6 sts.
*Slide sts to other end of dpn and knit them, pulling yarn tightly across the back of the
work. (Do not turn work.) Repeat from * until Cord measures 16 in. [40.5 cm]. Bind off.
FINISHING
With B, sew cast-on edge of Bag closed. With wrong side facing and bottom seam centered, flatten
Bag so that each edge forms a triangle. Following diagram, sew across ends, 1 in. [2.5 cm] from
triangle point on each end.
Turn Bag to right side and thread Knitted Cord through eyelets, beginning and ending in same
eyelet. Knot Cord ends. If desired, sew knot together permanently.
Weave in ends. |
