Stand-up 'Fur' Collar

GAUGE: 12 sts = 4 inches [10 cm] with 1 strand each A & B held together in Garter st (k every row) on larger needles.
13 sts = 4” [10 cm] with (C) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) on smaller needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

COLLAR
With larger needles and 1 strand each A and B held together, cast on 45 sts. Work 4 rows in Garter st (k every row). Increase 3 sts evenly across next row−48 sts. Repeat last 5 rows 3 times more−57 sts. Work even until piece measures 5” [12.5 cm] from beginning. Bind off.
LINING
With smaller needles and C, cast on 49 sts. Beginning with a purl row, work 3 rows in St st (k on RS, p on WS). Inc 2 sts evenly across next (knit) row−51 sts. Rep last 4 rows 2 times more−55 sts. Work 3 rows in St st. Inc 3 sts evenly across next row−58 sts. Rep last 4 rows once more−61 sts. Work even until piece measures 5” [12.5 cm] from beg. Bind off.
FINISHING
With WS tog, and matching edges, sew lining to collar. Weave in ends. Cut ribbon in half. Sew a length of ribbon to center of each Front edge.
