Red Hat Hatband & Scarf

Lion Brand® Fun Fur®

10 stitches + 7 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Garter Stitch (knit every row).

Use #113 red for alternate colorway

Make hatband first; scarf is worked from the balance of the yarn. Scarf is worked is worked holding 1 strand of each color of Fun Fur (or two of the red) together throughout. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

With 1 strand of each color held together, make a slip knot. Cast on 3 stitches – a total of 4 stitches.
Work in Garter Stitch on those 4 stitches until the band fits your hat (generally about 21 inches but size will vary by hat)
Bind off all sts. Sew ends together, fluffing fur out of seam.

With 1 strand of each color held together, make a slip knot. Cast on 9 stitches – a total of 10 stitches.
Work in Garter Stitch on those 10 stitches until approximately 1 yard remains.
Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.

Red Hat Hatband & Scarf Reviewed by Olivia Williams on 2008-11-12 *****
Hi: I knitted this pattern your way. I just finished doing it another way. I used red fun fur, violet fun fur and jiffy plum. The scarf turned out great for one to wear wtih your winter coat or just use the two fun fur yarn and wear this with your clothes. I think it looks great. Miss Libby
