25 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm) in ribbing. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
3 x 3 Ribbing

I love this pattern! I use 12 different colors and 36 rows of each color to make a really, really long scarf!:-) I have already made two, one for myself and one for a friend. I am in the process of making my third. It is an easy pattern but looks great when finished. It is so long that I can either wrap it around my neck twice or use it to cover my knees when I am sitting in the cold.
