GAUGE: 20 stitches = 4" [10 cm] in K2, P2 Rib. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: |
PATTERN STITCH
K2, P2 Rib (multiple of 4 stitches + 2; worked flat)
Row 1 (Right Side) *Knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * to last 2 stitches,
knit 2.
Row 2 Purl 2, *knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * across.
Repeat Rows 1-2 for K2, P2 Rib.

HOOD
Cast on 122 (134) stitches. Work in K2, P2 Rib until piece measures 23”
[58.5 cm] from beginning. Bind off in pattern. With right side facing, fold
piece in half and sew side seam. Weave in ends.
TASSEL – Make 8
Wrap yarn around a 2 1/2” [6.5 cm] piece of cardboard. Cut a piece of yarn
12” [30.5 cm] long and thread doubled onto large-eyed blunt needle. Insert
needle under all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly and knot
securely near strands. Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a piece of
yarn 12” [30.5 cm] long and wrap tightly around loops 1 1/2" [4 cm] below
top knot to form Tassel neck. Knot securely; thread ends onto needle and weave
ends to center of Tassel. Trim Tassel ends evenly. Position Tassels evenly
around cast-on edge and sew in place.
