Winter Hat

Lion Brand® Woolspun (old)

10 sc = 4" on size K hook. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Dec 1 sc: Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc, yarn over hook, draw yarn through all loops on hook.

Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1:
Work 8 sc into ring. Mark for beg of rnd.

Rnd 7: *1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around -- 56 sc. Cont even in sc until 5½" from center top of crown. Fasten off.
