GAUGE:

5 sts = 2" on size N hook. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

PATTERN (multiple of 3 + 1 3 t-ch):

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook leaving last loop on hook, skip 2 ch, *dc in next ch looping 2 dc off together, ch 2, dc in same ch as last dc leaving last loop on hook, skip 2 ch; rep from *, end dc in next ch looping 2 dc off together, ch 1, dc in same ch as last dc. Ch 4, turn.

Ch 4. turn. Rep Row 2 for pat.

THROW: Ch 103. Work pat Row 1. Rep pat Row 2 for approx 50". Do not fasten off.

This was the first afghan I ever made and it turned out beautifully. I made it bigger than pattern and put a different border on it. I also just used acrylic worsted weight yarn.
