GAUGE:
7 dc + 4 rows = 4" [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
PONCHO
RIGHT SIDE Starting at outer edge, with A, ch 89. Row 1 (RS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 88 sc. Rows 2-5 Ch 1, sc in back loop of each sc across; turn. Row 6 Ch 3, dc in back loop of each sc across. Fasten off. Row 7 With RS facing, join B in first dc, ch 3, dc in each dc across. Fasten off. Rows 8-23 Repeat Row 7, working in the following color sequence: 2 rows C 3 rows A 4 rows B 2 rows C 1 row A 2 rows B 2 rows C Fasten off.
LEFT SIDE
Work as for Right Side in the following color sequence: 6 rows C 1 row A 2 rows B 3 rows C 4 rows A 2 rows B 1 row C 2 rows A 2 rows B Fasten off.
ASSEMBLY
With RS of Right and Left Sides facing, matching stitches across last row of each side, using large-eyed, blunt needle and matching yarn, sew sides together up first 16" [40.5 cm] of front. In same manner, sew back seam up last 16" [40.5 cm], leaving center 18" [45.5 cm] open for neck opening.

For all you crocheters out there. I just made one like this. (my own pattern) All I did was cast on 70 and crocheted it all with a half double hdc. Color changed when I wanted to. I also used different yarns. I used thicker yarns. I used a K 6.5mm hook. For the neck when you get to the half way point (you will want to make it like a square so you can have a pointy end in front - if you want)all you need to do is when you get to stitch number 25 (start on 26) chain 20 (loosely) for the neck hole and attach with a slip stitch. Then when you turn you keep doing a half double hdc. I am sure you could make this with any stitch you want single, half or double. I hope this helps and is not confusing.
