GAUGE:
4 sc = 3" (7.5 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
HAT
Make a slip-knot loop with yarn end, sc 7 times into loop. Pull yarn end to snug up top of hat. Rnd 1 Work 2 sc in each sc around – 14 sc; slip st to join rnd, ch 1, turn. Rnd 2 Repeat Rnd 1 – 28 sc. Rnd 3 Sc in each sc across; slip st to join rnd, ch 1, turn. Repeat Rnd 3 until Hat is 11" or desired length to include turn back brim. Fasten off, weave in ends.
SCARF
Note
Scarf is worked in three sections: center ribbed section first; then a section is worked along each end of center section.
Center Section
Ch 22.
Foundation Row
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 21 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 1
Sc in back loop of each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat this row until work measures 8" (slightly stretched).
Side Section 1
Next Row
Work 12 evenly across short end of ribbed piece. Ch 1, turn.
Next Row
Work 12 sc evenly across.
Repeat this last row until sc section measures 19". Fasten off. Side Section 2
Reattach yarn at opposite short end of ribbed piece.
Next Row
Work 12 sc evenly across.
Work even on 12 sc until sc section on this end measures 19". Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Very easy, took less than an hour to make the hat. These would make great chemo hats.
