GAUGE: 18 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm) in Flat Knot Stitch on smaller hook BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| This is a fun pattern to work with and a great hat! I made it in a heather and it looks so cute I am making another. Good for those who hate HAT hair! My only complaint is that there is not enough yarn for the flower, although I like it better without embelishment.
