Furry Fun Purse: Crochet

GAUGE:
8 stitches + 12 rows = 4" (10 cm) in single crochet with one strand of each yarn held together.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Purse is worked with 1 strand of Wool-Ease Thick & Quick and 1 strand of Fun Fur held together throughout.
PURSE
With 1 strand of each yarn, chain 27.
Row 1
Working into second chain from hook, work 26 single crochet, chain 1, turn work. Work each row in single crochet until piece measures 18" from the beginning.
Buttonloop Row
Work across to 13th single crochet, chain 8, insert hook into next single crochet and work across to end. Fasten off.
Finishing Fold piece in half and sew or crochet side seams together.
strap With 1 strand of each yarn, make a chain 24" long.

I made this purse in black and love it. I did make an alteration on the strap as follows:
It was a little short so I added on and cast on 65 stitches. I also made it a little wider wider by k 1 row and p 1 row then binding it off. The length is perfect and a little sturdier with the wider strap.
I will be making several for friends that are asking for it and will be ordering more yarn in bright colors.
