GAUGE:
Each Square measures 3 inches x 3 inches. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Throw is made of 12 blocks, each block is made of 16 squares. To change colors, work last st with color in use until 2 loops remain on the hook; with new color yo and draw through 2 loops on hook.
BASIC SQUARE (make 192): With MC, ch 12. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; join CC--11sc. Ch 1, turn. Work even in sc with (ch 1, turn) at end of each row, working as follows: Row 2: 1 CC, 10 MC. Row 3: 9MC, 2 CC. Row 4: 3 CC, 8 MC. Row 5: 7 MC, 4 CC. Row 6: 5 CC, 6 MC. Row 7: 5 MC, 6 CC. Row 8: 7 CC, 4 MC. Row 9: 3 MC, 8 CC. Row 10: 9 CC, 2 MC Row 11: 1 MC, 10 CC. Row 12: 11 CC. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Following chart, sew 16 squares tog to form a block. Sew 12 blocks tog, 3 wide x 4 long, with matching yarn.
Border: Rnd 1: With RS facing, join CC with sl st in any corner, then sc evenly around outer edge of joined blocks working 11 sc along each block and 3 sc in each corner. Rnd 2: With CC, sc in each sc around working 3 sc in each corner. Rnds 3-6: With CC, rep Rnd 2 for 4 more rnds. Rnds 7-12: With MC, rep Rnd 2 for 6 rnds. Fasten off
